Roger Godchaux (French, 1878 - 1958)

Artist Biography: Roger Godchaux was born in Vendôme, and began his career studying under the celebrated painter Gérôme. He then exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1905, winning a silver medal in 1928.

Godchaux specialised in Animalier sculpture, and his works are characterised by a keen sense of form and expression, demonstrated in such pieces as Seated Lioness, Walking Panther and Man Washing an Elephant.
